Type species: ¤ Vulcanibacillus modesticaldus L'Haridon et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. n. Vulcanus, the Roman god of fire; L. dim. n. bacillus, a small rod; N.L. masc. Vulcanibacillus, a bacillus living in the vicinity of volcanic areas.
