Yokenella Kosako et al. 1985, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Yokenella regensburgei Kosako et al. 1985.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Yokenella, named after the Japanese abbreviation “Yoken” that stands for the National Institute of Health, Tokyo, Japan where the new group of organisms was recognized and studied.
Valid publication: Validation List no. 17. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1985, 35, 223-225.
Effective publication: KOSAKO (Y.), SAKAZAKI (R.) and YOSHIZAKI (E.): Yokenella regensburgei gen. nov., sp. nov.: a new genus and species in the family Enterobacteriaceae. Jpn. J. Med. Sci. Biol., 1984, 37, 117-124.
Validation List no. 17 in IJSEM Online

Note: Yokenella Kosako et al. 1985 is a heterotypic synonym of ¤ Koserella Hickman-Brenner et al. 1985.
Reference: KOSAKO (Y.), SAKAZAKI (R.), HUNTLEY-CARTER (G.P.) and FARMER III (J.J.): Yokenella regensburgei and Koserella trabulsii are subjective synonyms. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1987, 37, 127-129.

Yokenella Kosako et al. 1985.
Valid publication: KOSAKO (Y.) and SAKAZAKI (R.): Priority of Yokenella regensburgei Kosako, Sakazaki, and Yoshizaki 1985 over Koserella trabulsii Hickman-Brenner, Huntley-Carter, Brenner, and Farmer 1985. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1991, 41, 171.
Original article in IJSEM Online

Note: Yokenella Kosako et al. 1985 and ¤ Koserella Hickman-Brenner et al. 1985 are heterotypic synonyms. The two names appeared in alphabetic order in Validation List no. 17 in April 1985. On the Validation List no. 17, the priority numbers (these reflect the dates of receipt of the validation request in the form that is accepted for publication) are not given. However, the request for validation of Yokenella was submitted to the International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology on 10 September 1984, approximately three months before Koserella was even proposed in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology. Therefore, the genus Yokenella and the species Yokenella regensburgei have priority over the genus Koserella and the species Koserella trabulsii.
