Name: Eubacterium plexicaudatum Wilkins et al. 1974 (Approved Lists 1980)
Etymology: ple.xi.cau.da.tum. L. masc. adj. plexus, twisted or braided; N.L. masc. adj. caudatus, with a tail; from L. fem. n. cauda, tail; N.L. neut. adj. plexicaudatum, with a braided tail, referring to the tuft of subpolar flagella that are twisted together to form the “large flagellum” often visible by darkfield or phase-contrast microscopy
