Etymology: pi.gri.fran’gens. L. adj. piger -gra -grum, slow; L. pres. part. frangens, breaking up small; from L. v. frango; N.L. fem. part. adj. pigrifrangens, slow to break up, referring to the fact that the substrate mycelium remains stable for up to 14 days before undergoing fragmentation
