Etymology: Gr. n. aktis -inos, ray; Gr. adj. polus, many; Gr. fem. n. spora, seed and in biology a spore; N.L. fem. n. Actinopolyspora, the many-spored ray (fungus).

Note: Tang et al. 2011 propose the transfer of Actinopolyspora iraqiensis Ruan et al. 1994 to the genus ¤ Saccharomonospora as a heterotypic synonym of ¤ Saccharomonospora halophila Al-Zarban et al. 2002. However, Actinopolyspora iraqiensis (validly published in 1994) cannot be a later heterotypic synonym of Saccharomonospora halophila (validly published in 2002).
