Type genus: ¤ Alcaligenes Castellani and Chalmers 1919 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Alcaligenes, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Alcaligenaceae, the Alcaligenes family.
