Type genus: ¤ Chloroflexus Pierson and Castenholz 1974 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. n. Chloroflexus, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Chloroflexaceae, the Chloroflexus family.
