Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Cobetia, named after Cobet, scientist that described originally this organism as Arthrobacter marinus.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. amphilecti, of Amphilectus, the generic name of a sponge, the isolation source of the type strain.
