Type species: ¤ Collinsella aerofaciens (Eggerth 1935) Kageyama et al. 1999.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Collinsella, named to honour Matthew D. Collins, an English microbiologist, for his outstanding contribution to microbial taxonomy and phylogeny.
