Crabtreella Xie and Yokota 2006, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Crabtreella saccharophila Xie and Yokota 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Crabtreella, named after Dr K. Crabtree, the American microbiologist who isolated the type strain of the type species.
Valid publication: XIE (C.H.) and YOKOTA (A.): Zoogloea oryzae sp. nov., a nitrogen-fixing bacterium isolated from rice paddy soil, and reclassification of strain ATCC 19623as Crabtreella saccharophila gen. nov., sp. nov. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2006, 56, 619-624.

Note: The species ¤ Crabtreella saccharophila Xie and Yokota 2006 (the type species of the genus Crabtreella) is a later homotypic synonym of ¤ Shinella zoogloides An et al. 2006. The genus name ¤ Shinella has priority over the genus name Crabtreella which could be regarded as illegitimate name according to Rules 51b (1) and 51b (2).

Etymology: Gr. n. sakchar -aros, sugar; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. fem. adj., saccharophila, sugar-loving.
