Cystobacter Schroeter 1886, genus. (Type genus of the suborder ¤ Cystobacterineae Reichenbach 2007; type genus of the family ¤ Cystobacteraceae McCurdy 1970 [Approved Lists 1980]).
Type species: ¤ Cystobacter fuscus Schroeter 1886 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: Gr. n. kustis, bladder; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Cystobacter, bladder-forming rod.

Etymology: L. neut. adj. minus (comparative of parvus, small), smaller. The epithet minus is in the neuter gender, but the genus name Cystobacter is in the masculine gender! The correct epithet should be minor.
