Defluvibacter Fritsche et al. 1999, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Defluvibacter lusatiensis corrig. Fritsche et al. 1999.
Etymology: L. n. defluvium, sewage, waste water; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Defluvibacter, referring to its origin from activated sludge of a waste water treatment plant.

Fritsche et al. 1999 (the type species of the genus Defluvibacter) to the genus ¤ Aquamicrobium Bambauer et al. 1998 as ¤ Aquamicrobium lusatiense (Fritsche et al. 1999) Kämpfer et al. 2009, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Defluvibacter to ¤ Aquamicrobium.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. lusatiensis, pertaining to the German province of Lausitz (Latin name Lusatia), where the organism was isolated.
