Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Kordiimonas, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Kordiimonadales, the Kordiimonas order.
Valid publication: KWON (K.K.), LEE (H.S.), YANG (S.H.) and KIM (S.J.): Kordiimonas gwangyangensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium isolated from marine sediments that forms a distinct phyletic lineage (Kordiimonadales ord. nov.) in the 'Alphaproteobacteria'.
