Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Kordia, arbitrary name derived from the abbreviation KORDI, which stands for Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute; L. fem. n. monas, a monad, unit; N.L. fem. n. Kordiimonas, a micro-organism described by scientists working at KORDI.
