Etymology: L. n. mare -is, the sea; L. masc. n. caulis, stalk; N.L. masc. n. Maricaulis, stalk from the sea.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. parjimensis, pertaining to Parjim, the capital of the Indian state of Goa, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the nearby coast.
