Type species: ¤ Propionimicrobium lymphophilum (Torrey 1916) Johnson and Cummins 1972.
Etymology: N.L. n. acidum propionicum, propionic acid; N.L. neut. n. microbium (from Gr. adj. mikros, small and Gr. n. bios, life), a microbe; N.L. neut. n. Propionimicrobium, propionic acid-producing microbe.
