2 The subspecific epithet urealyticus in Staphylococcus cohnii subsp. urealyticus corrig. Kloos and Wolfshohl 1991 is a later homonym of the subspecific epithet urealyticus in ¤ Staphylococcus capitis subsp. urealyticus corrig. Bannerman and Kloos 1991. Because no two subspecies within a genus may bear the same subspecific epithet (Rules 12b and 13c), urealyticus in the name Staphylococcus cohnii subsp. urealyticus corrig. will have to be replaced.

1 Practically all characteristics of three strains (including the type strain) of Staphylococcus pulvereri Zakrzewska-Czerwińska et al. 1995 are in conformity with those described for the species ¤ Staphylococcus vitulinus corrig. 2 The ribotypes of Staphylococcus pulvereri strains were either similar or identical to those of ¤ Staphylococcus vitulinus strains. This observation suggests strongly that they belong to the same species. It is nevertheless, possible that they are different subspecies.
