Stenothermobacter Lau et al. 2006, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Stenothermobacter spongiae Lau et al. 2006.
Etymology: Gr. adj. stenos, narrow; Gr. adj. thermos, hot; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Stenothermobacter, a rod with narrow temperature range, pertaining to the narrow temperature range that supports growth of the type strain.

Note: Yi and Chun 2012 propose to transfer Stenothermobacter spongiae Lau et al. 2006, the type species of the genus Stenothermobacter, to the genus ¤ Nonlabens as ¤ Nonlabens spongiae (Lau et al. 2006) Yi and Chun 2012, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Stenothermobacter to ¤ Nonlabens.
