      Notes:
      • ⊕ Emendation accompanied by the proposal of 6 new species in the genus.
  • Notes:
    • 🚋 The type species of this genus has alternatively been placed in the genus Sandarakinotalea Khan et al. 2006. Publication: Khan ST, Nakagawa Y, Harayama S. Sandarakinotalea sediminis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the family Flavobacteriaceae. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2006; 56:959-963. 🇯🇵
    • 💁 Taxonomists who have recently focused on this group are the corresponding authors of Lau et al. (2006), Park et al. (2017). Editors in search of reviewers are advised to consider additional criteria such as whether a taxon is covered by one of the ICSP subcommittees.
    • 😢 The terminology used by the authors is in line with many other taxonomic studies and does not negatively affect their main results; some improvements may nevertheless be possible. Contrasting the term "chemotaxonomic" with "phenotypic" is not recommended. Whether taxa can have "members" is debatable. See the LPSN phylogeny page for details. Publication: Göker M. What can genome analysis offer for bacteria? In: Bridge P, Smith D, Stackebrandt E (eds), Trends in the systematics of bacteria and fungi, CAB International, Wallingford, 2021, p. 255-281. 🇬🇧
    • 🎰 The BRCs most frequently used for deposits in this group are: KCTC: 8; NBRC: 7; JCM: 4; DSM: 3; NRRL: 2; CIP: 1; MCCC: 1; KACC: 1; KCCM: 1; LMG: 1.
    • 🧍 The gender is not given by Lau et al. 2005 [1] and the specific epithet of the sole species does not allow the correct gender to be determined. Nonlabens may be in the masculine, in the feminine, or in the neuter gender. According to Rule 65(3) when the original author failed to indicate the gender, a subsequent author has the right of choice. In 2012, Yi and Chun propose an emendation of the genus Nonlabens and these authors choose the masculine gender.
