Emendation accompanied by the proposal of 1 new species in the genus.
The type species of this genus has alternatively been placed in the genus Cytophaga Winogradsky 1929 (Approved Lists 1980).Publication:
Reichenbach H. Genus I. Cytophaga Winogradsky 1929, 577AL emend. In: Staley JT, Bryant MP, Pfennig N, Holt JG (eds), Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology, first edition, vol. 3, The Williams & Wilkins Co., Baltimore, 1989, p. 2015-2050.
This taxon name is occasionally misprinted in some sources as: "Leeuwehhoekiella"; "Leeuwenoekiella"; "Leewenhoekiella"; "Leuwenhoekiella".
Taxonomists who have recently focused on this group are the corresponding authors of Nedashkovskaya et al. (2014). Editors in search of reviewers are advised to consider additional criteria such as whether a taxon is covered by one of the ICSP subcommittees.
The terminology used by the authors is in line with many other taxonomic studies and does not negatively affect their main results; some improvements may nevertheless be possible. Contrasting the term "chemotaxonomic" with "phenotypic" is not recommended. Whether taxa can have "members" is debatable. See the LPSN phylogeny page for details.Publication:

The phylogenomic assignment score of this taxon is 0.02953 (N = 4).
The BRCs most frequently used for deposits in this group are: LMG: 5; DSM: 4; KCTC: 3; CECT: 3; JCM: 2; CCUG: 2; ATCC: 1; NCIMB: 1; IFO: 1; NBRC: 1.
The genus name Leeuwenhoekiella is a noun in the nominative case, and it does not mean "of Leeuwenhoek" as cited in the paper by Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.Publication:
