🧍 According to Simmon et al. 2009, except for the type strain, ATCC culture collection strains of Mycobacterium aurum are incorrectly annotated. The authors propose that the majority of Mycobacterium aurum strains belong to the Mycobacterium neoaurum-"Mycobacterium lacticola" relatedness group. These findings together with a review of isolates identified at two large reference laboratories suggest that Mycobacterium aurum is not a clinically significant isolate.Publication:
