Etymology: ra.mo’ni.i. N.L. gen. masc. n. ramonii, from Gaston Ramon (30th Sep 1886 to 8th Jun 1963), a French veterinarian and biologist who invented the diphtheria toxoid vaccine, enabling mass vaccination against diphtheria, as well as the tetanus toxoid vaccine. He was also the first promoter of combined vaccines, and the inventor of the flocculation-based dosage of antisera
