- 🙄 This taxon name is occasionally misprinted (or affected by an OCR error) in some sources as: "Leuinea"; "Levineae"; "Levmea".
- ❗ Levinea is the correct name instead if this genus is regarded as a separate genus (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another genus whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority).

🧍 Brenner and Farmer 1982 proposed that the type species of Levinea be transferred to the Citrobacter. These authors did not, however, make any proposal regarding the transfer of Levinea malonatica to either Citrobacter or another genus.
