Etymology: N.L. n. natron (arbitrarily derived from the Arabic n. natrun or natron) soda, sodium carbonate; N.L. pref. natrono-, pertaining to soda; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Natronobacterium, soda rod.
