✏ The authority of the taxon name (Cavalier Smith) deliberately differs from the authors of the publication (Cavalier Smith and Chao).
🧍 Cavalier-Smith and Chao (2020) actually proposed the genus name Actinomyces as nomenclatural type of the phylum. While the nomenclature of phyla was not formally regulated by the ICNP at that time, only classes and orders were used in practice as nomenclatural types of phyla. LPSN has thus changed the nomenclatural type to Actinomycetales, which is the logical choice.Publication:
