Etymology: a.bi’e.tis. L. fem. n. abies (gen. abietis), a silver-fir and also a botanical generic name; L. gen. fem. n. abietis, of Abies referring to the isolation of the strains from a forest of Abies sachalinensis (Sakhalin fir)
