L. gen. fem. n. massiliae, ‘of Massilia’, the old Roman name for Marseille, where the strain was isolated; N.L. masc./fem. adj. nigeriensis, ‘of Niger, ’ referring to the nationality of the people who provided the stool samples [probably better: nigerensis]; N.L. masc. adj. massilinigeriensis
