Etymology: pseud.al.ca.li’phi.lus. Gr. neut. adj. pseudes, false; N.L. masc. adj. alcalophilus, a specific epithet; N.L. masc. adj. pseudalcaliphilus, false alcalophilus because it is phenotypically closely related to Bacillus alcalophilus but phylogenetically distinct
