Etymology: ho.mo.hi.o.chi.i. Gr. masc. adj. homos, like, equal; N.L. n. hiochum, spoiled sake (from Japanese n. hiochi); N.L. gen. neut. n. homohiochii, probably intended to mean homofermentative lactobacillus of hiochi (spoiled sake)
