homotypic synonym, not validly published, basonym of name in Approved Lists
According to Weiss et al. (1983), this species is a later heterotypic synonym of Lactobacilluslactis (Orla-Jensen 1919) Bergey et al. 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) but this is in conflict with the rules of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes.Publication:
Weiss N, Schillinger U, Kandler O. Lactobacillusleichmannii is the correct name if this species is regarded as a separate species within a separate genus Lactobacillus.
